Healthcare Recruiting · Florida

Physician, PA & NP recruiting in Florida, grounded in the market's real numbers.

We track Florida's provider workforce from federal data that updates every month, the same numbers we use when we take a search. Here is the current picture, and what it means if you are hiring.

Provider supply

Who practices in Florida today

Individual providers with an active Florida practice address, from the federal NPI registry (August 2026).

75,418

Physicians

43,478

Nurse practitioners

13,994

Physician assistants

Over the last 12 months, Florida added 3,486 newly enrolled nurse practitioners, 461 physicians, and 721 physician assistants to the registry. New NP enrollments outpaced new physicians: the advanced-practice workforce is growing faster than the physician base, and hiring plans that ignore that mix are competing for the scarcer pool.

Demand

Employment is growing on both sides of the market

Federal quarterly employment data for Florida healthcare employers.

Hospitals

399,155 employed, up 3.8% year over year. Average wages up 4.4% over the same period.

Ambulatory care

635,138 employed across 65,582 sites, and the site count itself is up 4.2% year over year: more locations competing for the same clinicians.

Shortage pressure

207 federally designated primary care shortage areas in Florida.

91 of them score in the high-need range. If your facility sits in or near one, you are not imagining it: the supply math is against you, and every open req is competing with 207 other designated areas for the same clinicians. That is the search we run every day.

For employers

Hiring in Florida? Physician, NP and PA search, on your terms.

Facilities find us under a lot of names: physician recruiter, physician search firm, NP and PA staffing agency. What we do in Florida is the same under any of them. Practicing clinicians run the search, screen for scope and fit, and bring you providers who have already said yes to a conversation about your organization.

Contingency or retained

Contingency or retained, your choice. Retained searches are exclusive; contingency searches are not.

First candidates within a week

First vetted candidates within a week of the brief.

Every placement guaranteed

Every placement carries a guarantee. The specifics are set in the fee agreement and differ between the legal and healthcare desks.

Questions hiring facilities ask us

How does a physician or APP search with Voll work in Florida?+

It starts with a 15-minute call to take the brief: the specialty, the schedule and call expectations, the compensation range, and what has not worked so far. Our recruiters are practicing clinicians, so the screen covers scope and fit, not just credentials. You see the first vetted, genuinely interested candidates within a week, and we handle scheduling, feedback and the offer negotiation from there.

Do you work on contingency or retained?+

Both, and you choose. Most physician, nurse practitioner and physician assistant searches run on contingency: you pay nothing unless you hire our candidate. Hard-to-fill or confidential searches can be retained. A retained search is exclusive to us; a contingency search is not.

What does it cost to use a physician recruiter?+

On contingency, nothing until you hire our candidate. We work on standard contingency terms, agreed in writing before you see anyone's identifying details. If your organization has its own agreement, we sign yours.

Is there a guarantee if the provider leaves early?+

Yes. Every placement carries a guarantee. The specifics are set in the fee agreement, and if your organization has its own agreement the guarantee follows its terms.

Do you place locum tenens?+

No. We place permanent physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. If you need locum coverage while a permanent search runs, we will say so on the first call rather than sell you the wrong thing.
