IP demand outruns corporate, a tech-market signature. Washington hires like the technology hub it is: intellectual property openings beat corporate ones outright, and litigation leads overall. Relative to the size of its bar, Washington is one of the busier hiring markets on the West Coast right now.

The part postings can't show you
A posting tells you a seat exists. It does not tell you which groups are quietly building, which firms flex on class year, or where your book and background put you at the front of the line. That is the read we give every Washington attorney we work with, confidentially, before anything is sent anywhere.

Contingency or retained, your choice. Retained searches are exclusive; contingency searches are not.
First vetted candidates within a week of the brief.
Every placement carries a guarantee. The specifics are set in the fee agreement and differ between the legal and healthcare desks.
It starts with a 15-minute call to take the brief: the seat, the practice, the class years or book you need, and what has not worked so far. We then run a research pass over the Washington market, which we track firm by firm, and you see the first vetted, genuinely interested candidates within a week. From there we handle scheduling, feedback and the offer negotiation so nothing awkward lands between you and your future hire.
Both, and you choose. Most associate and counsel searches run on contingency: you pay nothing unless you hire our candidate. Partner, group and confidential searches are often retained. A retained search is exclusive to us; a contingency search is not, so you can run other recruiters alongside us.
On contingency, nothing until you hire our candidate. We work on standard contingency terms, agreed in writing before you see anyone's identifying details. Many firms have their own fee agreement, and we sign yours rather than asking you to sign ours.
Yes. Every placement carries a guarantee. The specifics are set in the fee agreement, and if your firm has its own agreement the guarantee follows its terms.
A 15-minute call. A job description helps but is optional; we take the brief verbally, confirm it back to you in writing, and start the research pass the same day.
Or call 409-292-8655 or email hire@vollrecruiting.com. A recruiter, not an autoresponder, within one business day.
